Learners are innovative thinkers who are successful, confident, respectful and caring

This week we are going to continue with Rhyming, working on reading short u words and we are going to learn about worms!!

Here is the learning plan for this week.

Week 9 - Learning Plan

Gus and His Dog

Gus has a stubborn dog who he loves. Read about them in Gus and His Dog.

Activity #1

AND/OR

  • Make your own bones out of cardboard. Write a word family on each bone, then bury them in your sandbox/garden. Practice digging them up like a dog. When you uncover a bone, say three rhyming words for it.

Activity #2

  • Choose at least 2 of the pages from your short u packet to complete.

Dig, Dogs, Dig

I love this book called "Dig, Dogs, Dig" by James Horvath. Enjoy listening to this Construction Tail and see if you can find Jinx the cat on each page.

You can choose 1 or both of the following sentence activities.

Sentence Scramble 1       Sentence Scramble 2

WORMS!

Listen to Mrs. Ferrie read the story: Yucky Worms.

Go outside and dig up some worms from your garden (or get some big ones from a fishing tackle store. Green's Pop Shop on the North Side usually has some good ones).

Have fun exploring worms. You can use this Worm Observation sheet to help guide your discoveries.
