Short Week

I hope you enjoyed your long weekend! This week was scheduled to be a 3 day week because of the Holiday Monday and PD day on Tuesday, so the plan has been shortened.

The focus this week is on printing and correct letter formations. Please watch and guide your child while he/she is printing. Please don't let bad habits to continue and make corrections as needed.

Please also note that the school wide memory work will be due next Friday (May 29).

SORTING

  1. Take your letter tiles and sort them by using the following rules. Do this each day.
    • tall letters (touch the sky), short letters (between clouds and grass), dirty letters (under the line/dirt)
    • curved letters, straight letters
    • has a circle, doesn't have a circle
    • starts with a curve (cannon pops and some surfers), starts with a straight line (everything else)

Printing

Watch the videos by clicking on the links below and then practice printing each letter 5 times on either your Spell it/Write it mat or use the worksheets below.

PARENTS: Please watch your children printing their letters and fix any formations that are not correct. It is important that all letters start either at the top of the sky or the clouds (never on the grass). All cannon pops (c,a,d,o,g,q) start with the circle (tap two clouds then curl around).

You will need the envelop & Butterfly Life Cycle Sheet from your take home package and glue and scissors (white glue or a hot glue gun would be helpful).

For fun you can listen to this fun book called "The Very Impatient Caterpillar" by Ross Burach. Read by Mrs. Ferrie and Mrs. Jordan.
