Learners are innovative thinkers who are successful, confident, respectful and caring

I can't believe its June already and the struggle to keep going with school is REAL!! If your child was in school, June would be filled with a couple of field trips, going outside a lot and doing some reviewing.

That being said, you will notice that this week's learning plan is less 'intense' than past weeks. If you get 1-2 things complete, that's great! If you want to do it all, that's great.

Maybe take some time this week to head to a park, go down to the river to throw rocks or dip your toes, see the painted turtles at the wetlands, walk around the nature center and enjoy being outside. Take a picture of your family/child doing something fun outdoors and send it to me!

This week, I will try to call the families that would like a call. There are a lot of you, so it will take a while to wheedle through the list.

NOTE: Please continue to collect all the starfall books, library books, home shared reading books, that you have kicking around the house and drop them off at school when you get the chance.

Week 10 Learning Plan

Get Up, Cub

This week you can read the Starfall book "Get Up, Cub" from your take home packet. Here is a cute video of a black bear waking up from hibernation.

You can complete this worksheet if you'd like.

Get Up Cub

Fun Dog, Sun Dog

Fun Dog, Sun Dog is one of my favourite books that I read to my own children. Tinka is a sweet and fun dog, who can also get into a little mischief. Enjoy listening to this story!

Afterwards you can come up with your own page for the story. Print off Fun Dog, Sun Dog sheet and then watch the video below of Mrs. Ferrie sharing the pages she wrote for the story. I would love to hear you read your stories to me!

*Parents, if your children are getting frustrated or tired of writing, feel free to scribe their ideas for them. I'm more interested in their creativity for this activity than their penmanship.

Insect Art

This could be a fun art activity that your whole family could do. For this activity you will need:

  • 2-3 pieces of white paper
  • pastels/crayons
  • watercolour paint set (you should be able to get a cheap set from the dollarstore or craft store)
  • paint brush
  • pencil
  • glue
  • scissors
  • imagination

Your child can pause the video for each step as well.

I can't wait to see your creations!
